NPP postpones conference to elect national executives

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed its national delegates conference scheduled for June 15, 2018.

The postponement has become necessary because the conference coincides with Eid-Adha festival celebrated by Muslims.

Onua FM’s morning show, Yen Nsempa, however gathers that the delegates conference would be held in early July this year. The venue remains at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

At the conference, the NPP is expected to elect national officers who will run the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako in an interview with Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa on Thursday confirmed the postponement and said a new date is yet to be set.

He said since the June date will coincide with the Eid-Adha festivities, it will not be prudent for the NPP to hold its elections on the date.

The General Secretary, Acting National Chairman and the National Executive Council of the party will soon meet to come out with a new date for the delegates conference.
