Sanitation minister wants Navrongo to be the cleanest town in Ghana

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Joseph Kofi Adda, has urged residents of Navrongo to strive to make the area the cleanest town in Ghana. According to him, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has tasked him as the Sanitation Minister to make Ghana clean, as such Navrongo must endeavour to be the cleanest town. Mr. Adda, who is also the MP for Navrongo Central Constituency in the Upper  East region, was speaking to 3news.com on the sideline of the maiden edition of Navrongo Town Awards night, organized to recognize individuals and groups whose hard work has contributed to the development of the town. “And lastly, let me say that as I’m the Minister for Water and Sanitation, to keep Ghana clean as the president is saying I think we should also strive to make Navrongo the cleanest town in all of Ghana,” the minister asserted. The Member of Parliament who was also honored by the organizers for his instrumentality in the development of Navrongo expressed his excitement and gratitude to the organisers For him, the awards scheme is a novel idea that ought to be supported by all including corporate Ghana. He however suggested that the awards is renamed to reflect the ‘Navrongo Spirit’ which connotes  a lot of positive things that ought to be promoted. “If there’s  any award here today that should be given to anybody, I would like to call it the spirit of Navrongo award. The spirit of Navrongo means so many different things: we’ve got very beautiful people,” he stressed. He pledged GHS 1000 to help cover cost of this year’s event and a GHS 5000 to be invested in an endowment fund which will be used to cater for the event in subsequent years. “In recognition of what you have done this evening,  I’ll offer to pay for the rental of this facility, to pay for the chairs you rented, in that regard, I pledge one thousand Ghana Cedis for you to be able to pay for what you have done so far.” By P.D.
