Road accident: 16 dead in head-on collision

About 16 people, including the drivers of vehicles with registration numbers GW-2659-T and GM 5383-12, died on the spot after a head-on collision Sunday dawn. The accident according a police report occurred on April 15, 2018 at about 1:42 am, on the Yapei-Buipe stretch of the Tamale-Kumasi Highway. “The accident involved a  Neoplan bus with 70 passengers on board traveling from Nalerigu to Ejura,” the report said. On reaching a section of the road at Yapei-Yipala in a curve on the Tamale-Kumasi Highway the driver attempted to overtake a cargo car ahead of him. “In the process, the vehicle crushed into an incoming bus”, the police report said.
