Queenmother, 8 others on the run after failed attempt to steal spiritual stool

A queenmother and eight others are on the run after a botched attempt to steal the town’s spiritual ‘black stool’ on Thursday April 19, 2018. The Oseim queenmother,  Obaapayin Akosua Atwimaa and the eight unnamed men had their motive thwarted by some town folks, 3news.com’s correspondent gathered from the police. Oseim is in the East Akyem District of the Eastern region. The black stool is symbol of authority, and when a chief dies whoever posses it has the right to ascend the throne. The queenmother was said to have led the eight to hire a taxi with registration number GW 5311-13 to invade the Osiem palace. They entered the palace through the main entrance and begun breaking into rooms in the palace in the presence of the Abusuapanyin, Kofi Amoah and another elder. They broke into the room the black stool is usually kept but it was not there. The queenmother led the men upstairs to where she suspected the black stool was being hidden. They laid hands on the stool but the Abusuapanyin raised an alarm which got many of the town folks rushing to the palace. They managed to retrieve the black stool from them, smashed the windscreen and back screen of the taxi the suspects came in with. The queenmother and the eight men however fled the scene as the people trooping to the palace increased. The police is yet to make any arrest. Calm has however restored to the area.
