According to him, such people are serving the people of Ghana so it is prudent for the people to know their health status every point in time. Dr. Oduro-Osae was sharing his thought on the statement from the presidency stating that the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken ill and undergoing medical observation. The statement from the Flagstaff House and signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said the Vice President has been attended to by his doctors and being monitored. It further added updates on the health situation of the vice president would be duly communicated. It did not however state the ailment. Reacting to the issue on Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene on Friday, Dean of Graduate Studies at the Institute of Local Government Studies said in Twi: “We need to know the health status of the Vice President and the President at any point in time, so I am not surprised”. He commended the government for making the health status of the second most powerful person in the country public. Dr. Oduro-Osae said “Vice President is a public officer and we need to know. It is the standard practice for the citizens to know the health status of their leaders and it should apply to ministers, MMDCEs and all government appointees because they are serving us”. The local governance expert emphasised the need for government appointees to disclose their health status so that people can pray for their speedy recovery.
