The cocaine, was wrapped in 499 aluminum foils which were concealed in Martha Osei’s handbag at the time of her arrest, the Police has said.
Martha was arrested at the Bewkai Roundabout in Kumasi when she tried to board a 207 Mercedes Benz bus to a galamsey site at Manso Aframso in the Amansie West District to sell the substances to the illegal miners.
The Ashanti Regional Drugs Law Enforcement described the seizure as the biggest ever this year. Commander of the Unit, ASP Jeremiah Alare said the arrest of Martha was based on a tip off.
He said they have been monitoring the activities of Martha for the past four months until her arrest on Easter Sunday
ASP Alare called on the public to complement the efforts of the security agencies by providing them with credible information.
