TV3 News Anchor, Portia Gabor bagged two awards at the event[/caption] Media General Group made a great showing at this year’s Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards as staff bagged a total of five awards including the Best TV Reporting at a ceremony held on Wednesday. Portia Gabor, who won the News Reporting category for TV, was also named the Most Promising Journalist of the Year. Peter Quao Adattor was named the Best Journalist in the health category while Kwabena Adu-Gyamfi was specially awarded for his efforts in contributing through journalism in the fight against illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey. TV3‘s NewDay was also honoured as the best morning show for the year at the event held at the State Banquet Hall. Peace FM’s Kwame Sefa Kayi (KSK) was adjudged as the PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year. The popular morning show Kokrooko host was named the overall best due to his campaign to procure incubators for some health facilities across the country. Other awards presented included: Best Agriculture report – Seth Bokpe (Daily Graphic) Development Journalism for Furthering SDGs – Umaru Amadu Sanda (Citi FM) Best Sanitation and Hygiene Report – Jamila Akweley Oketchire (Daily Guide) Most promising journalist – Portia Gabor (TV3).
