Over 50 suspected criminals including armed robbers arrested

More than 50 suspected armed robbers alleged have been terrorizing residents and business operators in the Ashanti Region have been arrested. The Police say the suspects have been attacking residents in Kumasi at gunpoint, noting they rob victims of valuables including money, mobile phones and cars. A total of 46 who were arrested during a swoop by the Police will be paraded for identification Wednesday, the Police have said. [caption id="attachment_78035" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Some of those arrested in the swoop[/caption] The others were arrested from various locations within the region for various criminal activities including armed robbery. One of them, Eric Vivor, was arrested in connection with a robbery attack at Esaase Bonkanye which led to the killing of professional motor rider last month. Five other suspects alleged to be part of a gang of six that robbed a fuel station at Mampong earlier this month were also arrested in a separate operation. Twenty-three year old Sissey Ibrahim, is also in the grips of the police for impersonation. He was arrested dressed in full military uniform affixed with a name tag ‘Zakari’. Briefing the media, Ashanti regional police commander COP Ken Yeboah, assured the public the police will leave no stone unturned in combating crime to make the region safe for business and living. “The Command would like to assure the public of its resolve to fight all manner of crimes to its barest minimum and to assuage the fear of the public” he said.
