The Director of Legal Division at the National Communications Authority (NCA), Abena Asafo Adjei, has told an Accra High Court that monies withdrawn from the Authority’s account and used in purchasing cyber security equipment did not have the approval of the board. Led in evidence-in-chief by Director for Public Prosecution Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, Ms Asafo Adjei said minutes of board meetings during the period 2015 till date do not show any request and approval of a sort brought before members of the board. She also added that the only request for external support was in regard to some GH¢2.2 million for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC). She was testifying in the case where the former board chair, Eugene Baffoh Bonnie, and four others are facing trial for allegedly fraudulently withdrawing GH¢4 million from the account of the NCA. The Director of NCA’s Legal Division, who is the first prosecution witness in the case, brought her testimony-in-chief to an end. She was being cross-examined by Thaddeus Sorry.
