'Killer' of Abuakwa North MP arrested

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a man suspected to have killed the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu.

Sources at the Police Command who confirmed the arrest to Onua News Richie Henry Ankrah, said the alleged killer was nabbed in an operation led by the Regional Commander, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

The operation began last night and ended Thursday dawn but details of how the arrest and the identity of the suspect are unknown.

The Bureau of National Investigations has taken over the interrogation of the suspect to ascertain whether he acted independently or was contracted to kill the legislator. The suspect, claims to be a petty thief, is said to have admitted to stabbing the late MP.

He is said to have told interrogators that he committed  the crime with two others who our sources say the Police are currently pursuing.

Three mobile phones belonging to the late Danquah Adu were retrieved from the suspect upon the arrest, source told TV3 Online, add the suspect was said to have attempted to decode one of the phones when he was arrested

Investigations into the gruesome killing of the MP began on Tuesday morning, after his demise at dawn that same day.

Efforts to capture the suspect intensified after the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was asked to take over the investigations.
