Four lives were lost at Beahu in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region on Friday after an ambulance collided with a truck.
The ambulance was conveying a patient from Dixcove Hospital to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
According to the police, the driver of the ambulance with registration number GV 1453-14 knocked down a pedestrian while overtaking some vehicles and rammed into the oncoming truck with registration number GT 7348-15.
The truck was carting manganese from Takoradi to Tarkwa and said to belong to BBS Company, 3news.com gathered.
The drivers of the two vehicles – Alex Asare and Alhassan Buhare – survived the accident.
Buhare, who was driving the truck, and his mate have since been treated and discharged at the Effmax Hospital.
But the patient, Ben Asafoah, was among the dead.
The accident was first reported by Media General Radio‘s Connect FM in Takoradi.
