“Flagstaff House” changed to “Jubilee House”[/caption] The name of the seat of government has this morning Thursday, March 29 been changed from “Flagstaff House” to “Jubilee House” As at the time of filing this report, workers were spotted at the seat of government replacing the old signage(Flagstaff House) with a new one which now reads “Jubilee House”. The actual name for the seat of government has been in contention for a while now with the New Patriotic party(NPP) under whose administration the facility was built advocating for “Jubilee House” while  the National Democratic Congress (NDC) advocating for  “Flagstaff House”. When the current administration took power in January 2017, it was unclear whether the government will maintain the current name (Flagstaff House) or reverse it. However,  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo gave a hint of the name change when he addressed a meeting with the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs at the presidency on Wednesday, February 14. An executive order dated March 29, instructed for the seat of presidency to henceforth be named, known and referred to as “Jubilee House”.The order occasioned the replacement of the signage at the seat of the presidency on Thursday morning, March 29. This comes to replace “Flagstaff House”, the name the seat of the presidency has been referred to for the past 9 years. The order by the President  has stated among other reasons “there is no record evidencing the renaming of the seat of the Presidency as Flagstaff House by His Excellency Professor bhn Evans Atta Mills”.
