Asantehene honours Media General for exemplary service

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has honoured media giant, Media General Ghana, for its excellent and extensive coverage of the final funeral rites of the late queenmother of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. Led by TV3 Network, Media General provided days of live coverage of the funeral rites to expose the rich tradition and culture of the Kingdom to the world. The company was presented with a citation at a ceremony at the Manhyia Palace to recognize the exemplary services provided by organisations and personalities during the event. The citation expressed appreciation for TV3’s loyal and dedicated services to Asanteman. TV3 and its sister networks 3FM, Onua FM, Connect FM, Akoma FM and 3news.com provided viewers, listeners and readers with in-depth coverage of the 15-day event to bid farewell to the Asantehemaa. Regional Bureau Editor of Media General Kofi Adu Domfeh, who received the citation on behalf of the company, expressed gratitude to the Otumfuo for honouring Media General. “The royal burial and funeral of the late queenmother had keen public interest because it was the first to happen in many years,” he observed. “With people from all walks of life, home and abroad, trooping to the Manhyia Palace to pay homage and commiserate to the Asante King, Media General had the commitment to inform and educate our audience about the rich Asante culture and tradition. We are grateful the King has recognized our work to help develop society holistically,” he said. Media General focused on the Asante Kingdom throughout the days of the burial and funeral rites because of the significance in exposing the new generation to the rich African cultural heritage.
