The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has denied reports that the US Ambassador to Ghana has been summoned by President Akufo-Addo over the derogatory remarks made by President Donald Trump about Africans and Haitians. Donald Trump is reported to have called African countries shitholes in a meeting with law makers on immigration issues. Some African heads of state including the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have condemned and expressed their displeasure over the comments. President Akufo-Addo described Donald Trump’s comment as unfortunate, adding, his comments are unacceptable. “We are certainly not a “shithole country”. We will not accept such insults, even from a leader of a friendly country, no matter how powerful,” the president said in a twitter post. Following the president’s tweet, it was widely circulated on social media that the Foreign Affairs Ministry authored a statement indicating that the US Ambassador to Ghana had been summoned by President Akufo-Addo. But the ministry issued a disclaimer on Monday insisting that the Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey had not signed any such letter as reported on some social media platforms. “The ministry wishes to state emphatically that the statement was not written by the minister,” it stated. The ministry further urged the public to disregard those reports. Meanwhile, wife of US president Ivana Trump has come out to defend her husband saying, although he says ‘silly’ things sometimes,  Donald Trump is no racist. By Irene Amesimeku|3news.com|Ghana]]>
