National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Awuku says President John Dramani Mahama has become an irony of a leader for Ghanaian youth having projected himself as a “youthful” president.
According to Mr Awuku, mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy has made President Mahama “the biggest disaster of a president for the youth of Ghana”.
At a press conference in Accra on Monday, June 6, the leader of NPP’s youth said youth of Ghana have regretted voting for the president “because not only has the President not delivered on his promises, he has actually killed the little hope that was there”.
He mentioned youth employment programmes such as GYEEDA and YES as policies taken advantage of by government to “steal” and “abuse” taxpayers’ money.
“As we head to the November 7th elections, we expect the NDC to start rolling out numerous ‘youth employment modules’, which again will create avenues for the NDC to steal money and distribute monies and freebies, as they did in 2012.”
He, therefore, called on the youth of Ghana to organize and mobilize for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, leader of his party.
Sammy Awuku listed posting anomalies of trained nurses and midwives, maltreatment of newly recruited teachers and the recent police recruitment, which generated GH¢1.7 million within three days, according to him, as evidence of the employment downturn.
“Mahama kills jobs! Mahama kills futures! Mahama is simply bad for the youth of Ghana.”
