Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says he will be reflecting on 79 years of his existence on earth as he marks his birthday.
Mr Kufuor was born on December 8, 1938.
Speaking on 3FM’s morning show, Sunrise, hosted by Winston Amoah from Monday to Friday, the former first gentleman said he will be taking stock of his life.
He said he will welcome family, friends and well-wishers to his home just to mark the day.
“It is not a party as such,” he clarified.
He said he will just look back at what God has done for him.
“[And] I thank God for bringing me this far,” he stressed.
“Just remembering and being thankful!”
Mr Kufuor was the president of Ghana between 2001 and 2009.
He is the second president of the Fourth Republic but has the enviable record of being the first opposition leader to be president in the Fourth Republic.
He is also the first leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win power in the Fourth Republic.
He served as Chairman of the African Union in 2007, for a year.
Since leaving office in 2009, he has played statesman roles with his foundation – John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation – instilling leadership skills in undergraduate students.
Mr Kufuor was recently appointed the first Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa (UMaT).
