Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has expressed his desire to make himself available for selection for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
GFA Vice-President George Afriyie had earlier said he would use the off-season to impress upon the player the need to return, and follow that up with a trip to Italy later.
Asamoah has not played for Ghana since the 2014 World Cup defeat to Portugal and has battled injuries since then.
He has returned for Juventus, where he has been used sparingly this season and playing a massive role in the team getting to the UEFA Champions League final.
While Asamoah, capped 69 times for Ghana, has not yet retired from international duty, he has asked for time off to concentrate on his club career, and turned down the chance to play at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Speaking on Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM, the Juventus ace stated that he will join the team very soon and is willing to serve his nation.
“I will join the team very soon and as we all know I left the team due to some injuries and I needed time off to get better.
“I know Ghana has a lot of talents and even though I’m not in the team now, I know there are replacements but I’m so happy I’m doing well now.
“I didn’t want to join the team half fit so I needed some time to regain full fitness but within some few time, I will join the team very soon.”
