The Medical Director of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Eugene Dordoye, has denied being removed from his position as the conclusion of a meeting with the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, on Friday. Dr Dordoye’s removal was confirmed to Media General’s Daniel Opoku by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Robert Cudjoe, after an emergency meeting. READ: Director of Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital removed to appease staff The meeting stemmed from the withdrawal of services by nurses on Wednesday. According to the nurses, until an “oppressive, illegal, degrading, abusive” Dr Dordoye was removed, they would not return to work. Mr Cudjoe said a new Medical Director was going to be scouted for as a result of the decision taken at Friday’s meeting. But in a phone conversation intercepted by 3news.com, Dr Dordoye denied being removed from post. According to him, his appointment came with an official letter and so having not received any letter of any decision terminating that appointment, he is still at post. He confirmed meeting the sector minister in Accra on Friday but said nobody told him to leave post. Meanwhile, the Psychiatric Nurses Group at Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central Region says members will not return to work until an official communication is released on the issue. Local Chairman Daniel Danso Oppong said they are waiting for the exact decision reached before communicating to their members and knowing their next line of action. Though his members were jubilating at the news, Mr Oppong said they will not return to post until they hear officially from the minister. Source: 3news.com|Ghana  ]]>
