The defeated Cruiser Weight Boxing Champion, Briamah Issah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku has admitted that it was good he lost the bout against Bastie Samir over the weekend.
Bukom Banku said the defeat has taught him a lesson and as such he is going to prepare and come back in March next year for a re-match with Bastie Samir.
In a non-title fight scheduled for 12 rounds, Bastie produced the performance of his career to end Bukom’s undefeated record by stopping him in the seventh round.
“It is good that Bukom Banku lost the fight to come back and learn more so Ghanaians, don’t forget me, I am still the African Mayweather”, Bukom Banku bragged in an interview with Yaw Ofosu Larbi on TV3 New Day on Tuesday.
He said “Ghanaian should not forget me. I am still the champion. I will bounce back and it is good that Bukom Banku lost to come back and learn more”.
He added that “every mistake is a new style so I will go back to correct my mistakes and come back because all the big boxers we know have lost fights before. Tyson lost. Azuma lost Ike Quartey lost, King Kong Agbeko all lost bouts before so if Bukom Banku lost today, it doesn’t mean I am not a good boxer”.
Bastie Samir and Bukom Banku are expected to mount the ring again in March 2018 for a re-match.
