Head Coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah has called up 23 players for the last Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifier with Egypt.
The continuous exclusion of the Ayew brothers has generated lots of debate in the football fraternity.
Some Ghanaians have launched a scathing attack at Appiah, insisting he should have included in-form Dede Ayew in the squad.
Ex-Black Stars player Sam Johnson, however, says he doesn’t understand what Ghanaians want.
“Before [Kwesi Appiah] called [his players], Ghanaians were insulting the Ayews especially Jordan, day and night and now [that] he is still playing good football and he is still not called up, why are the people talking about [it].”
“We should stop these accusations day in and day out.”
The Black Stars will play the Pharaohs on 12 November at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with skipper Asamoah Gyan returning to the team after being sideline through injury in their last two matches.
Meanwhile, the team is with only one locally based player, goalkeeper Joseph Addo of the league champions Aduana Stars which depict the lack of consistency in the Stars’ set-up.
Sam John said: “We have the quality and good potentials in the local players but they are not there, if you take twenty may be one can succeed”.
“Egypt have already booked their ticket to Russia from the group so what is the point of playing this game with these foreign based players.”
