Ghanaian filmmaker wins prestigious honour at Los Angeles film festival

Ben Darkwa’s new film titled ‘Trending Crimes: Episode 1’ won the Best International Short Award at the 2018 Golden State Film Festival held in Los Angeles, California.

The prestigious film festival took place from August 10-12.

‘Trending Crimes: Episode 1’ is a thriller centered around Ghanaian citizens who are targeted by a motorcycle gang.

Throughout the film, the gang is tracked by a seasoned private investigator set on apprehending these bad guys.

‘Trending Crimes’ shows the dedication of law enforcement fighting to preserve their communities and to overcome issues that happen in everyday life.

The film’s Executive Producer, Ben Darkwa, is a renowned author, civil engineer and entrepreneur in Ghana.

Aside being behind the scenes for ‘Trending Crimes’, Darkwa also created the award-winning film, Pauline’s Diary. That film won the Award of Recognition at the Global Accolade Film Festival and Indie Fest movie Festival.

Ben Darkwa’s many accolades show his ability to create powerful films and connect with audiences. Aside filmmaking, he was the Chairman of the Cambridge African Network, a position he held for five years.

He engages in various charitable foundations around the world and is known for lending his voice and time to help many causes which affect African communities.
