Later this year, one Ghanaian footballer could make the journey of a lifetime after Rexona launched the Be The Next Champion campaign with a place in an Africa XI side at stake.
The campaign, part of Rexona’s partnership with Chelsea, is a skills-based competition with former Ghana international Laryea Kingston as the official coach and ex-Chelsea star Michael Essien as the brand ambassador.
The winner will represent Ghana on an Africa XI team that will face a team of Chelsea legends and spend time training with Chelsea’s coaches at Cobham. One fan will also travel along to meet the Blues and see their state of the art facilities.
“It is a fantastic opportunity so I urge every aspiring footballer to get involved in it,” brand ambassador Michael Essien said.
“There is a lot of talent in Ghana and this may be just the break they need.”
According to the Managing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, Yeo Ziobeieton the campaign “is our contribution to talent discovery effort in Ghana.” He said given the level of talent in Ghana, “it will be tough, but it will also be fulfilling.”
The man with the biggest say in which player represents Ghana is the former Hearts and Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston.
“I will pick the right player that I believe can represent Ghana. There are many quality players and the street and I am happy to be involved in helping them with this amazing opportunity.”
The competition will begin in May and end on 21 July 2018.
Apart from the two ultimate prizes, there are many exciting prizes up for grabs; autographed memorabilia as well as Rexona hampers, jerseys, headphones, water bottles and footballs.
