GSTS student shot by police laid to rest

Detective Corporal Adjei Shaibu is standing trial for the shooting of the GSTS student[/caption] The final year student of the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) shot dead by a police officer at Nyankrom in the Shama District of the Western Region has been buried. Lawrence Joe Baidoo was buried on Saturday. He met his untimely death on Friday, December 22, 2017 when detective corporal Adjei Shaibu shot at him and four other mates. They were mistaken for thieves, according to earlier reports, while going for a jam at night. While Lawrence Joe Baidoo, 18, died instantly, the others sustained injuries and were treated at the St Benedict Hospital in Takoradi. The officer has since been standing trial. There have been three previous adjournments by the Takoradi Magistrate Court with the latest coming on Tuesday, January 30. The suspected officer is to reappear on Monday.
