Old students of Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) has put together a legal team to offer legal advice and strategy to the prosecutor handling the alleged shooting of a final year student to death – and injuring of two others – by a police detective. The move, they say, is to help ensure that justice is served. The old students also intend setting up a legal fund as they claim the nature of the case may require funding beyond the means of the family of the deceased. Costs such as transportation to interview witnesses, correspondence and other ancillary could be catered for, they said. Already, Lawyer Ebo Donkor, an old student, has already spoken with the deceased’s father. It followed a visit paid the family of the deceased, Lawrence Baidoo, by a team from the secretariat of old students, popularly known as Giants, and the school’s administration. A visit was also paid another student, who survived the shooting. Master Baidoo met his untimely death on Friday, December 22, 2017 after he, together with four other mates, was mistaken for thieves by detective corporal Adjei Shaibu, who has since been remanded by a Takoradi District Court. He is scheduled to reappear in court on January 12. Meanwhile, one of the injured, Kobina Dokpor, a past student of Methodist Senior High School, who sustained gunshot wounds is still on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital. Only one out the five bullets lodged in him has been successfully removed with the doctors saying it will be dangerous to remove the rest. He is being given medication for the four remaining bullets to come out on their own. Source: 3news.com|Ghana ]]>
