Persons who are unable to find placement for their wards through the internet are being advised to call or whatsapp new numbers provided by the Ministry of Education for support.
Parents across the country have been frustrated by the inability to find senior high schools for qualified candidates who participated in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination.
But the ministry announced on Tuesday that persons with “problems with SHS enrollment” can now communicate with the appropriate quarters by calling a hotline number 0302747778 or sending whatsapp message to 0207407499.
The deadline for reapplying has been extended to midnight on Thursday, September 7, 2017 due to the challenges.
Qualified senior high school students who were not placed by the Computerized Selection and Placement System are expected to complete the re-application by the extended deadline.
The Ghana Education Service on Friday announced that persons in this situation should visit a provided website – www.myjhsresult.net – to reapply but the site has not been active for days.
A new web address was provided on Tuesday – www.csssps.gov.gh – but it also went down few minutes after it was announced to the public. It seems the websites are not able to stand the huge traffic trying to access information from their servers as prospective students rush to beat the deadline.
The Ghana Education Service said on Friday September 1 that out of the number of candidates who sat for the BECE “267,327 candidates secured places in schools of their choice, whilst 150,770 candidates could not be placed in a school of their choice. They are being given the second chance of choosing school”
