Michael Kesse Frimpong, known on stage as Kesse, although believes dancehall is a great genre, it’s not Ghanaian and therefore wants Ghanaians to stick to highlife.
Dancehall music in Ghana has over the last couple of years seen artistes like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Jupiter and others producing some very entertaining songs which have been trending in Ghana and all over the globe.
Speaking on 3FM’s Urban Blend Show on Thursday, the product of TV3’s music reality show Mentor wants colleague artistes to keep the spirit of highlife alive.
“Dancehall for instance is a great genre but my problem is, it’s not for us and you can do it but not make it your own.
“It is good but we should go back to where it came from because when Ghana is mentioned everyone knows its highlife.
“What I’m trying to say is that it is good but I believe we should go back to where we came from”.
