The Church must arise and fight apostasy to sustain her holistic growth and development

TEXT(S): 2 Tim. 3:1-17; 1Tim. 4:1;6:12; 2 Tim. 4:1-2,7

INTRODUCTION

I give glory and thanks to the almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ for seeing me through my 33 years of active ministry in accomplishing my call to build men for His Kingdom. For my 43 years in the Church of Pentecost, God has moved The Church of Pentecost (COP) from obscurity to limelight as a World-class Pentecostal Church transforming and shaping Christianity in the 21st Century.

Secondly, I give praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that the holistic growth and development vision promoted for the past six years in Kaneshie Area has been achieved in a remarkable way.

However my last message today is a prophetic warning to the Church to rise up and fight apostasy creeping into our fold, in order to sustain our hard-earned holistic growth and development.

God called us all through faith in Jesus Christ to salvation and eternal life, to be holy and blameless and to be fit for heaven. But the journey with salvation through life journey on earth is what Paul calls a fight of faith. A fight between the Kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness; Between righteousness and sin; between forces of darkness and God’s people. It takes faith, commitment to holy living, faithfulness, prayer, and obedience to God and His word by following the teachings and instructions of His chosen Leaders to win this fight. Other powerful virtues to employ in fighting the good fight of the Faith is Love, humility, the fear of God, a good heart and mind, positive attitude to all circumstances and situations good or bad, patience and perseverance through sufferings, trials and persecutions which are all involved in this fight.

Both Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul forewarned of apostasy that will invade the end-time Church (last days) in Matthew 24-25, and 2 Tim. 3:1-9; 1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Tim. 4:1-4.

However Paul taught Timothy the way to fight this apostasy was to live the truth, preach and teach the truth of God’s word, and to learn from his example (2 Tim. 3:10-17; 4:1-2). Hence Paul exhorted Timothy to reprove, rebuke, correct and discipline wayward members, so that their lives and message will not infest the saints like a virus.

Our founding fathers have toiled to bring this Church to this glorious height of growth and we must labor, pray, and live holy and blameless lives to sustain the holistic growth to impact the future generation.

What is Apostasy?

It is the rejection of the established truth, doctrines, policies and practices of a Church or Political party.

Where and when the Church begins to accommodate the siphoning of tithes, covering those who commit various forms of sin, and showing gross disrespect to Church authority then be aware that apostasy has invaded that Church.

As Jesus Christ and Paul said in Matthew 25; and 2 Tim. 3:1-9, the Church membership contains the apostates and the faithful.  Where do you stand as the coming of our Lord Jesus draws closer and closer.

The antidote is living the word and practicing the word in holy and blameless character. The Bible says righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.

I want to salute the Pastor, Officers, and members of Kaneshie District for sustaining the Pentecostal fire with this weekly Time with Jesus for the past three years. We want the Officers and members to own this program so that if Pastor Eshun is transferred, the fire on the altar will keep continually burning. God richly bless Kaneshie District for your remarkable offerings towards my retirement. We salute all Districts and Assemblies for your show of love and support in divers ways. Fare thee well and aim at perfection as the coming of Jesus Christ draws nearer and nearer.

God richly bless you all beyond measure.
