IPR inducts 100 new members into UCC Student Chapter

The Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR) has inducted 100 new student members into its newly inaugurated University of Cape Coast (UCC) chapter. A brief event held at the University of Cape Coast had the executive council of the institute inaugurate the UCC student chapter, partly to fulfil its mission of consolidating and establishing IPR as a distinctive, respectable and proactive professional body. The Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR), a sole professional body for public relations practitioners in Ghana has student chapters which afford students who are studying in accredited tertiary institutions the opportunity to be admitted as student members. Student members of the Institute have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by seasoned professionals. They are also provided with resources for their dissertations, internship with corporate members of the Institute and are professionally prepared for the Public Relations Industry in Ghana and across the world. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, an Executive Council member of the Institute urged students to be strategic thinkers. He noted that “the public relations profession has evolved over the years to become more of a strategic management function”, a reason he challenged them to be proactive to be able to meet the competitive demands of the industry. Executive council member and Coordinator of the Institute’s student’s chapters, Kenneth Awuku also reiterated the need for students to position themselves strategically for the competitive PR space. President of the University of Cape Coast’s Communications Students Association, (COMSA-UCC), Eric Owusu expressed gratitude to the IPR delegation for honouring the association’s invitation to the inauguration and promised they would uphold the high values and ethics of the Institute.
