Bernard Mornah[/caption] The National Chairman of the Peoples’ National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has taken on President Akufo-Addo, accusing him of touting the Ghana beyond aid without putting in place any pragmatic steps to achieve that. In his view, as Ghana turns 61 on Tuesday, the theme for the independence anniversary “Ghana Beyond Aid” should have rather reflected the self-sufficiency of the country. “But 61 years down the line, it appears our nation has become a beggar nation, almost always calabashing, trotting the globe and seeking for favours,” Bernard Mornah told 3news.com’s Alfred Ocansey on Tuesday. Flanked by some political leaders who joined the anniversary parade at the Black Star Square in the national capital, Accra, the PNC chairman regretted that after 61 years,  “we are dependant”. “What modalities has he put in place?…I have not seen any workable strategy to actualising the theme that has been put in place,” he pointed out. Adorned with rich royal attire from northern Ghana, Bernard Mornah remarked: “There is no policy agenda that would leap our nation out of our dependence on aid. It is just a rhetoric, that the president has been talking about Ghana or Africa beyond aid. “It is obvious to all of us  that they have not outlined what we should do as a nation in order to liberate ourselves from the shackles of international and multinational corporations.” He outlined the importance of adding value to the country’s raw material to take advantage of the trade relationship with foreign partners.
