President Nana Akufo-Addo says he is shocked and saddened by the death of former vice president Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, describing him as ‘a fine public servant’.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra Friday after he collapsed at the Air Force Gym where he was said to be undergoing his routine morning exercise.
“I have learnt with shock and great sadness the sudden death of the former Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur”, Nana Akufo-Addo said in a Facebook post Friday.
He added: “Ghana has lost a fine public servant”
The president said Amissah-Arthur “discharged his duties with dignity” in his longstanding public servant service to the country.
“The news of his death is unfortunate, since he appeared to have a lot to contribute to the public life of our country” he added.
“My thoughts and sympathies are with his wife, children and family. I extend my deepest condolences to them, and also to the former President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and to the National Democratic Congress, of which the former Vice President was a prominent member,” he said.
