Akufo-Addo nominates Nene Amegatcher, 3 others for Supreme Court

Nana Akufo-Addo expects parliament to expedite the approval process

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is seeking the approval of parliament in accordance with Article 144 (2) of the 1992 constitution for the appointment of  four new nominees as Justices of the Supreme Court.

The nominees are,  Justice Samuel K. Marful-Sau, Justice of Appeal, Justice Agnes M. A. Dordzie, Justice of Appeal, Prof. Nii Ashie Kotey, former Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon, Nene A. 0. Amegatcher, Private legal practitioner and former President of the Ghana Bar Association.

The President expects the approval to be done expeditiously to enable the nominees assume office as soon as possible.

This statement is only an official confirmation of a scoop got and reported on in April this year. In the said report,  we indicated the President will be  expected to refer their nomination to Parliament, which will through its Appointments Committee, vet to determine their suitability for the Supreme Court job.
