Match Day 13 of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League saw all 16 clubs in action in midweek with champions Wa All Stars travelling to the Brong-Ahafo Region to play former champions Berekum Chelsea. It turned out after 90 minutes that Alfred Okine’s strike was enough to secure all three points for the former champions. That match was handled by referee Solomon Mordey. Incidentally, that match is one of the three wins recorded on Wednesday, April 26. Conspicuous among the wins is West African Football Academy’s 2-1 win over Liberty Professionals. That win extends WAFA’s lead at the top of the log. Chasing them are former champions Aduana Stars, who went to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to hold Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw. Zakaria Mumuni had opened the score for the Ogyam boys but Abass Mohammed helped struggling Kotoko to share the spoils. Kotoko’s arch-rivals Hearts of Oak went to the Northern Region to engage in a six-goal thriller. They were held to a 3-3 draw by Bolgatanga All Stars at the Utrecht Academy Park. Referee Shadrack Bortey handled proceedings between the two sides with B.A. Crentsil and Ben Samari assisting him on the lines. The other win of the week went the way of Tema Youth but it will be Great Olympics who will be reeling over the result. The Agosu boys are still in the drop zone and will need a boost for their next match.
